The blue hued yarns in the Souchi store this month are all called sky. But just like the skies outside our windows they aren’t all the same color blue – oh no.
There is the ultra fine cashmere named sky that is the color of the morning sky, faint, rich, blue. This cashmere is soft and lightweight and perfect for spring and early summer. I imagine the funnel neck cape cardi paired with white jeans, flats and a barely there tank for an easy dinner out.
Then there is the series of heavier, cotton knits that are the color of Portland skies this spring – more grey than blue but still cheerful. They are the perfect neutral to toss over candy colored tops or your basic black and white.
Finally there are 100% cotton organic super fine pullovers in a sky color that can best be described as twilight. These sweaters are sexy and bare and utterly lovely.
There are other signs of sky blue too.
I swooned over a chambray Jackson, Johnson and Roe dress composed of ultra thin vertical stripes on top and bigger, bluer, horizontal stripes on the bottom. A blue sash to cinch around the waist is lined in a musky purple color that adds a distinctive, yet subtle flash. This is the perfect dress for work or play, week day or weekend. I picture myself drinking a glass of cold white wine outside after work as a warm sunny day turns into a warm dark evening.
And then there was the deep brooding blue-grey of a gorgeous MS by Martine Sitbon vintage inspired handbag that is large and stormy colored. Never has looking blue seemed so exciting.
