top layer knits for fall - many lengths

The most exciting thing about sweaters is that they are practical for any season. The ideal sweater to us is one that lasts many years and gets worn many ways: as accessories, tops or outerwear pieces. To us, the perfect fall sweater is warm and cozy and flattering too... this year Suzi introduced some new heavy weight yarns and some new ideas for short or long top layers for colder weather, these finish off a look with interest and practicality.

shorter: the jessie rib swing funnel in heavy merino - $386

This style looks amazing with leggings and a tunic top underneath, or with a wider jean (new siwy boot cut) or trouser (new ports trousers to see in black wool with great wiastband detail.) The shorter length and neckline make this style unique and interesting. A shorter length top like this works great with skirts and anything with a higher rise waistline. This is a great accessory type layer, very warm and cozy as a top layer or under a coat. The neckline is cowl-like. We imagine you skiing in this one.

Longer: The Lily long cardi with sash #93 cashmere cotton with stretch $718

I have been calling this (#93) the teddy bear yarn... it is super lofty and soft and huggy.
The lily cardi has amazing details, like a tall collar and banded closure with an antler button and sash. This long sweater looks great with your killer healed boots and tailored pants (like Loeffler Randall leggings or Siwy zip crop denim in indigo.) It hits at the mid-thigh and is meant to cape open and show off your layers underneath.

Mid-Length: The claude hoodie in #95 8 ply cashmere $946

Here is your warmest cashmere... luxurious and everlasting. This cardigan has a warm hood, snap closure and a built-in scarf for interest. This is the everyday sweater to wear as an outerwear piece with jeans or just about anything. I (cp) wear mine year-round on the trips up to the mountain and almost every night at home and always for running errands on cold nights... it is one of my most used and loved souchi styles. (I grabbed this in camel last year... thank goodness, as this year I am after the others on this list...Julia!)

Longer: The 8 ply #95 heavy cashmere julia cardi $1260

This is really the ultimate cashmere cardi coat... oversized hood and big vintage brass snaps detail this style that hits behind the knee. This is a romantic long style that tops off a daily casual look flawlessly. The julia works with casual dresses, slim or boot cut jeans and boots, tapered trousers and oxfords or a legging with a tunic top. We love the Julia.

Longer and Oversized: The Mary-Kate o/s cardi in heavy merino $548

The mary kate wears much like the Julia, long and cozy and also understated and cool. This is a warm sweater that you will want to grab everyday to cut the chill at home or at the office. This yarn is only available in simple black or vanilla and adds great texture to an otherwise light wool and silk outfit in all black or a denim-boot-tank top everyday outfit... it is a great layer for the tall and the shorter person (who often worry about long tops,) it looks stylish and smart.

Lengths:
You don't have to be tall and skinny to wear long top layers, but they do need to fit your shoulders and be worn with the right layers for a balanced silhouette. The right shoe and pant cut can bring things together when you are looking for something new. Call us or stop in and ask for some ideas anytime.

BRUCE - New Arrivals for Fall

We have all been eagerly awaiting BRUCE for Fall, for one the silk racer tanks (a repeated basic style) made my best of closet list this spring, and new colors are here at last - I love silk tanks and blouses and this one and the print blouse are perfectly useful and cut beautifully... these will tuck into trousers or skirts or wear well with some favorite jeans.

The horn pendant necklace by Ninh Wysocan for Bruce is a stand-out piece, the horizontal line is great with a scoop neck top.

We love the tie neck button up blouse, in store is the charcoal which looks great with every thing I have layered it with so far... beautiful. And we also need to mention these super tailored high rise jeans... the perfect pair to wear with your souchi sweaters - we have been on the hunt for a hi-rise cigarette jean and here it is at last.
